Mission #3
Location: Pawnee National Grasslands (North Site)
Date: July 21 2007
Mission: Second attempt at L2 certification
Rocket name: Stobor
Mission Profile: Launch proven rocket (Stobor) on a Aerotech J420 Redline motor for TRA certification. Expected altitude 5400′ AGL. Dual deployment system with Main parachute deployment set for 1000′ Stunt Monkey will deploy with Drogue parachute at apogee. This will be the stunt monkey’s highest altitude.
Mission results: Launch was picture perfect with only a little wobble during thrust. The main parachute deployed along with the drogue due to recovery forces and possible early release by Stunt Monkey. Investigation revieled that there was no fault and the incident was dismissed “Shit happens”. Altitude was just shy of 5300′. The rocket was recovered in tact and was deemed a successful L2 attempt. Capt Danger was recovered approximately a half mile from the rocket recovery area two hours after the initial recovery of Stobor.
Mission Status: Successful
