Mission #5
Location: Pawnee National Grasslands. (North Site)
Date: 4 October 2007
Mission: First Hybrid launch aboard John Wilke’s K-240 powered rocket.
Rocket name: Screamin’ Mimi
Mission Profile: Dual deployment flight of John’s all fiberglass rocket. This is the second attempt that day. The first attempt did not completely fill the pressure vessel with Nitrous Oxide.
Mission results: Screamin’ Mimi preformed flawlessly complete fill of hybrid motor and an altitude of 4324′. The rocket was recovered only a hundred yards away. When the parachutes deployed there was no sign of Capt. Danger. The ground crew suffered many moments of high anxiety until upon revocery of Screamin’ Mimi it was discovered that Capt. Danger’s parachute was tangled with the much larger parachute of John’s rocket. Capt. Danger was unable to free his chute from the rockets main chute and rode in with the rocket. The landing was harder than usual but Capt. Danger was well trained. He was able to walk away from the scene. That’s why he is the stunt monkey.
Mission Status: Sucessful.
