Mission #6
Location: Pawnee National Grasslands (North Site)Date: November 18th 2007
Mission: Test new official Stunt Monkey Mobile (Rocket)
Rocket name: Stunt Monkey Mobile.
Mission Profile: Test experimental rocket vehicle for flight profile. Test capsule to make sure that all the electronics and lights work under flight stress before flying at night. Us a certified motor with known ejection delay to determine delay for experimental motor of same impulse.
Mission results: The launch was successful; however the recovery was rough due to a long delay on the ejection charge. This was a known risk due to the low impulse of the motor (G80), the long delay (10 seconds) and the weight of the rocket (Portly). After careful examination the rocket was deemed as air worthy and ready to be flown again.
Mission Status: Ready for a night launch. The next step is to mix and pour the propellant. Dragons breath (G-104) is my goal for the next launch.
Stunt monkey says he is GO!
A close call!
Missed the Prairie pie by an inch.
